SILENT DARKNESS

I stand amidst a large town,
But I hear no sound.
I feel the touch of people helping me,
How I wish I could be blessed to see.


To me, life is a sea of darkness,
My vision is splashed by the dark waves.
All the colours seem to merge in one,
Books seem to be my saviour, my life's key.


I love my dear ones, but...
The pain of not seeing and hearing them,
Creeps inside deeper with each passing day.
I wonder why I had to be this way. I wonder...


What lies beyond the realms of black,
What does the world look like?
How does it feel to hear?
or feel to see...


I wake up everyday with a hope…
And feel crushed when the darkness pours all over me,
The guilt of being a burden doesn’t make it easier!
But still I wait for a miracle each night.


I imagine the playgrounds,
Filled with the laughter and cries of children
Birds fluttering and chirping on trees,
New love blossoming,while others withering.


I know not what these aspects of life are,
But am eager to unveil them.
Each morn i wish, to bring my senses to life.
Each night i sleep with a pray inside.


The only world I see is through my books.
I conjour images in my mind,
and enjoy what it has to offer me,
Unsure if they are right or wrong!!!


Even though I feel as a lone person amidst billions
I live in a hope that someday,
I shall live to see and hear the world,
That I have been living through my books.


For someone whose world is silent and dark,
A little light of knowledge can make a difference,
For someone like me.
Who can neither hear nor see.
