Japan- The Land of Misery and Survival.

Japan, is another name for ‘Survival’. It has been through a very rough road in the past. This country saw its two major cities; Hiroshima and Nagasaki reduce to ashes because of the nuclear explosion during the World War II. It had to fight against an invisible force that seeped in and destroyed the human genetic buildup; which completely devoured the two cities. Several generations had to pay the price for the Japanese army’s reluctance to give up during the World War II. This ugly price was the ill effects of Radiation.
Once the peace treaties exchanged hands; which was on September 8, 1951, at the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco, California. Japan was a calm place again. But there lingered a deep sense of sorrow, despair and sadness. The war left many injured, homeless, and dead. Nevertheless, the spirits of these people were high, they were born to fight and not look back and lament over the past. They built an empire from the ashes of their predecessors. They honoured their martyrs by working hard as ONE. They rose from the grounds and touched the skies overnext decade.
Japan is now one of the leading countries of the 21st century. It has launched a variety of companies in almost every field all over the globe. Casio, Citizen, Fuji Film, Fuji Electric, Hitachi, Honda, Mitsubishi, Nikon, Nisan Motors etc; are few of the many other globally recognized Japanese brands. They showed the world that nothing could dampen their spirits to reach the top; that, they were here to survive.
Japan is one of the countries that experience a lot of earthquakes and hence they have equipped themselves to fight Mother Nature. Their construction is such that absorbs the shockwaves of the earthquakes. Hence over the years, the Japanese have become accustomed in dealing with this unwelcome guest that leaves them a bit shaky. And so 11th of March 2011, was just another busy day for the Japanese people, who left home for work, children were busy at school, others were busy with household chore, grocery shopping, meeting friends and family or just walking by the beach absorbing the natural beauty.
On the outside the day appeared absolutely normal, but underneath the earths surface there was turmoil and unrest. As a result of which the unwelcome guest visited Japan yet again, but since the people had gotten accustomed to these frequent earthquakes everybody carried on with their work. But then it was not one of the regular earthquakes, the intensity increased and the earth shook violently. It was reported that the Tohoko Region, Pacific Offshore earthquake was caused by a 9.0 magnitude undersea earthquake in the afternoon. The people braved the earthquake and waited for the dreadful visitor to go away. But it seemed like Mother Nature had other aggressive plans in its pocket. This earthquake triggered extremely enormous tsunami waves that the world had ever witnessed. These waves were reportedly ten feet high. The sea waves gushed with tremendous force inside the cities like Miyagi, Sendai, Sendai Bay and few other such cities. It might remind us of the curse that plagued the city of Egypt during Prophet Moses’ time. But in that only the first born died, but here the number of people who lost their lives is unaccountable. It appeared to be a scene from one of the movies whose theme was based on; “The End of the World”.
As the waves approached the main civilization, the houses were uprooted from the ground; some were set ablaze, the cars were beaten and banged into each other, the ships that once graced the seas were thrown on the land; the bullets were gulped in the waves. At the end, all of these were swept silently along with the black rubble that the waves gathered on their way. The Sendai airport runway strip was literally submerged in water. From an aerial view these cities looked like a huge burning mass of waste, it was hard to believe that these cities had once housed any kind of civilization in them.
One cannot begin to imagine the horror faced by the Japanese people who witness this catastrophe The survivors, who were able to cheat death, will always bear the scar of this tsunami, as they had almost come face to face with their death. Thousands were left homeless, they had no food, no shelter, no electricity and the weather did little to console them. Amidst all of these miseries, the greatest sorrow was for the people who were slowly finding out that they had lost their loved ones. On the other hand, few were relieved to find their loved one amidst these rubbles. These were the moments that brought tears in the eyes of all the viewers.
Many relief teams started pouring from all over the world. The most humbling moment was when China offered help to Japan, and the latter accepted their aid. It was a memorable moment, as former foes united and worked together in helping the Japanese people in their struggle for survival. It shows that even amidst the tension that was present between these two countries, there was a sense of humanity in them.
While the Japanese people helped each other, providing the needy with food, shelter and the basic necessities, there cropped another major problem. It was something that gave cold shivers to the Japanese administrative system. While the country tried to work together as one, there were serious issues at Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant. The power cut in all over Japan, was gradually restored but there were serious talks of a meltdown at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant. The tsunami waves had wrecked the entire Power Plants. The government did everything in their power to cool the four nuclear power plants, but they were helpless as the destruction caused by tsunami and the earthquake was irreversible. Three of the plants had major explosions, and with each explosion the radiation leak only intensified. The people at Fukushima were asked to evacuate, for the radiation level was just increasing by the hour.
With the homeless people on the streets, increasing scarcity of food, water and shelter, the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant destruction just added to their misery. The sea water had mingled in the sweet water rivers and hence there was no drinking water.
In these situations, where the radiation levels rose considerably high, there were few brave men who stayed back at Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant and took charge. They believed that their sacrifice would save Japan. Messages from the engineers trapped inside the power plant reached their loved ones. Their families could do nothing but helplessly lament on what the future might bring in for them.
When we see so much of destruction, misery, despair of the people. Like silent tears rolling down some children’s faces who lost their parents or siblings, the screaming mothers who lost their sons and daughters in front of them, an elderly couple who helplessly saw her husband being washed away in the waves. A mans agony at seeing the remains of his house which he must have lovingly built with his hard work. Witnessing all of these mixed feelings just makes us aware of the bounties of nature that we casually take for granted. We realise how much we crib about what we don’t have, when these people lost everything that they ever owned.
We must salute their undying spirit to survive. Once again they face a great challenge that nature has thrown unkindly in their way. Once again the fear of radiation attacking their country and the bordering nations have come to haunt them. Let us join hands and help them in their struggle to survive and let us pray together for their quick recovery. And hope that no nation should ever witness such a grave disaster.

Life's Good!!!

Never shy away from who you are,
Be what you want to be.

People will always find flaws,
Overlook them and step forward.

There are many people much more capable than us,
But that does not make us any less capable.

We can always aim for the stars,
If not anything, at least we will touch the skies.

Rejection and acceptance is a part of life,
Moving on will keep us going.

We are the ones, who have to make our paths,
Right or wrong, this we got to decide.

See a glass half full instead of half empty,
Feel content with what you have.

Strive for what you want,
But don’t lose touch of reality.

Worrying about what you don’t have,
Just might make everything feel so sour.

Being positive, is all that it takes,
If we fail, we can always cry out loud.

Everyone has their shares of;
Happiness and grief,
That’s how all the things are meant to be.

When you'll feel the pressure,
Sing out loud or shake a leg with Lady Gaga.

World is a fun place to be,
Live happily, Live life to the fullest!!!

IT IS ALL ABOUT YEARS OF EXPERIENCE?

Around the globe, in every field, there is a high demand for experienced workers. People who hold at least a year or two’s experience are preferred. And why won’t they be preferred? Everybody wants the best for their institution. In today’s time, every company is at each other’s neck, trying to pin their rival companies down. So a good job experience definitely counts. Especially having witnessed the recession that had embraced the entire world’s economy, nobody wants to risk their jobs. Everyone is holding on to their dear jobs, working hard to sustain themselves in the various companies that they work with. The population increases by the second but the job opportunities stay limited. Hence, there is a scarcity of good jobs, and an abundance of fresh degree holders.
But do you think it is fair to allot jobs only on the basis of their various job experiences? Would it not help to have fresh minds enter an institution and show what they are capable of? Most of the job vacancies demand a good academic level, with job experiences. A student pursues Bachelors in the preferred field and goes out to find a job, just to be told that he needs a Masters degree. After securing a Masters, they are asked to get an M.Phil degree or even better a Ph.D. The numbers of degrees keep adding on to the resume. But at the end of the day, it all comes to a full circle to the one favourite question of all the companies; “Do you have any experience in this particular field?” When the most basic necessity for any job is based on the individual’s job experience, where will the humble beginners go? All those degrees in your folders suddenly seem useless. After all those years of studying hard, the degrees prove futile. Isn’t an individual who has all the degrees and no experience eligible for a good job? Why is it that only those individuals who have topped or have some experience are given the green signal by various companies. What about the other students who are genuinely good as well? Is securing 99% the only way to secure a good job? Is it a justified reason for overlooking an individual, only because of their average marks? They could probably have much more potential in them.
This is a problem that has encapsulated the entire world. Every individual has set goals and in trying to realize them, it is necessary that various institutions should at least give them a chance to prove themselves worthy. The individuals are always measured on the scale of their marks or their job experiences. But that cannot alter the truth, which is, that there are millions of degree holders, who as just as good as anybody else. But due to the lack of appropriate job opportunities, they end up doing odd jobs trying to meet their ends. This not only leads to disappointment and feeling of disillusionment in a student, but also adds a tremendous amount of pressure on them. Many take it in their stride but some succumb to its pressure. The rise in suicide cases amongst job seekers is rising by the day. In today’s world, no body wants the second best; everyone wants to scoop the cream.
If only the best get selected by various companies, our nation or for that matter the world is going to be a big land of unemployed, frustrated youths. When there is a scarcity of opportunities, the system needs to create opportunities for the students. It’s a chance that these beginners are looking for. There is so much talent out there; they just need an opportunity to prove themselves. While there are companies which hire individuals without any job experiences, there is a huge demand for more of such institutions to come forward. After all, it is the youth of today that will be the future of tomorrow’s world.

THE STORY OF MY LIFE.

Hey guys, what’s up? I am Jazzella, but I prefer to be called Jazz. It will be exactly one year this 25th January 2011, since I came to Paradise, U.S.A. Where am I originally from? That would be a very tricky question. But it has a very simple yet a rather strange answer, any guesses? Okay I know I don’t look like the typical human, but I am trying my best to be one. That is to say, I am from another planet! Yes that is right; ANOTHER PLANET!!! My planet is a small one, called Riveria. Our physical buildup is quite close to the humans, except for the fact that we are taller, have four fingers instead of five and we have a flawless ivory complexion. Maybe this was one of the reason’s I decided on living in America, which has people from all over the world. It was easier for me to blend in.
Riveria is a water planet with very less land. It’s an unknown planet, so don’t even bother looking at the map to locate it. Now the question, on how did I get here? Well, I was on a trip to earth, my folks landed and I wandered off, exploring this new planet and whosssh my folks took off without me. Would this not be the patent but perfect reason? But that is not how I got here. Let me take you back in time…
In our planet, we don’t measure time in days, weeks and months. My planet revolves with twice the speed of earth. We have different time zones in Riveria. Our one day is equal to an Earth’s two days. We have no set timings for sunrise or sunset. Being the farthest planet from the sun, we live in darkness most of the time. But our technology is such that we have found a way to compensate for the barely there sunlight. We have cultivated our own sun, oh yes! I know it is a weird concept. But we have bought together the basic components of the sun that are hydrogen, helium, oxygen, carbon, neon, iron and few others, through scientific researches. It took us decades of researches, many trips to different planets that are closer to the Sun. We wanted to make sure that we recreated a sun which was absolutely close to the real one, if not identical.
There were constant discussions on whether this invention will be a success or a disaster. While most mocked the entire idea of another sun, an unnatural one, others were more supportive. After a lot of trials and errors, a satellite was launched around the Riverian-made sun. Initially, it was a great success. We had the sun light all day, it was beautiful. But as the experiment concentrated on bringing the sunlight to our planet, we had not invented a way to regulate the sunrise and the sunset. So unfortunately the light never ceased to die down. So the scientist’s started to do more research on the working of the sun, and how they can make it rise and set like the original sun. In the mean time, the sun had started to perform its duties which ended up intervening in the natural sun’s working.
Being a water planet, our planet started to experience water hazards. Some places witnessed the sea’s fury. The lands that were inhabited by my fellow Riverians were gulped into the wild sea. The researchers were working round the bent to get the situation in control. The Riverians started to unleash their anger unto them, which did not make the scientist’s job any simpler. In a few days the sun started to expand, owing to the abnormal hydrogen and helium activities. It divided into three parts, two small and one big crushing the satellite. With no way to monitor the Riverian-made sun things started to get out of hand. Many Riverians lost their lives. Our people decided it was time to leave our lands and go seek refuge elsewhere. We visited various planets, Jupiter was a very bad experience, we were lucky to leave alive. My parents and I thought of the possible planets where we could stay and be invisible.
It was 14th January 2010, when we left our planet and finally 25th January 2010 we landed in a secluded island, called Paradise. We made it our home. It might amaze you at how fast we reached owing to the distance of billion light years that we had to cover. In my defense, my planets technology was very advance. We made the sun remember!!! Okay we played with the natural setup, and hence it went all bad. So my point is that, we CAN travel really very fast.
We camped at a beach side location which was quite secluded. Slowly we learned the ways of the earthlings. Initially, we felt lost and unprotected, but soon we learned to trust the humans and co-exist in peace. According to the earth’s time span, I was 18 years old. With no formal education, getting into any institute in America was difficult.
I started to work at Starbucks. Maybe my different physical appearance intrigued my owner and so I might have landed the job. While cleaning tables at star bucks, I bumped into a boy who looked familiar. It was Adamon, from my own planet. He was my classmate from School, at Riveria. He was always helpful but kept to himself, like all genius’s do. But this time we just had that look of, relief. To find someone of your own clan amidst the crowd is one feeling, but you cannot even begin to imagine the feeling, of finding a fellow Riverian in another alien planet.
Maybe it was my luck, or my fate that brought the two of us together. Thanks to the place where we came from, intelligence was our birthright. It only took us few months to prepare and get selected at the assistant level at NASA. We know more than most of the NASA people, but we maintain our ignorance and blend in perfectly well. Occasionally demonstrating our smartness in front of the people we feel; deserve to know a little more about the secrets of this universe.
I still miss Riveria. But I have learnt one thing for sure that; life goes on and we must move along with it. And Earth was the perfect place to start a new beginning.

UNCERTAINITY

I want what I don’t have,
and don’t want, what I might get.
I am happy for what I got,
and scared, that I might not get it again.

I am blessed,
to have had people who loved me.
But uncertain about,
who I might have to love.

These uncertainties confuse me,

make me want to run away.
People who I thought were mine,

made me rethink about my thoughts.

Rules that I followed,
appeared to question me.

They were meant to guide me,

but I think I got lost in them.

What to do and what not to do,

has become a puzzle.
Just when I am about to figure it out,
it changes its course.

Take a step,
and finish it off.

Its that step ,

I think; that I might have lost.
